These two theatre directors explored the abandoned areas of Antwerp, the “ghost places”. Van den Berg proposed a film about her existing project Rumor during its expected tour as part of the Black/North SEAS project in 2008. She wished to create a “subjective” documentary about her own experience of touring in the Black Sea region.
Meanwhile Delchev proposed a project focusing on Black Sea cities as places created by “migrants”: a thought which occurred to him while in Antwerp, itself a great trading port developed by commerce and the movement of people and goods.
Van den Berg did not continue with SEAS, due mainly to the costs connected with touring the production Rumor, but Delchev developed his ideas into the project Suitcases.
