Waiting…

A theatrical performance for courtyards, backyards, squares and other public or forgotten open air spaces.

Director Mahir Gunsiray explores the stories of three migrants to Europe who are “waiting” to be greeted, received, accepted or simply acknowledged so that they can “belong”. Turkish, Kurdish and English dialogue, physical theatre, music and song.

Developed in Balchik in Bulgaria

Gunsiray and members of Tiyatro Oyunevi have been working with SEAS for two years, visiting the places SEAS has visited on both the Black and North Seas. In 2008 the company visited Balchik in Bulgaria during the SEAS Bulgaria events in summer 2008 where they developed the first ideas of their new work Waiting… Using the public spaces of the town and the beach/harbour area they are exploring the experience of migrants to Europe.
